Immortal life

Once upon  a time there lived a wizard. His name was Wazard. He lived in one of the Northern kingdoms in his cabin in the moor. He had been studying magic for a long time. He was a really powerful wizard and could perform a lot of magic tricks. His magic book was very big and he was proud that he had written it himself. His biggest experiment was called “How to win over the older”.  He had done a lot of experiments, but he couldn`t do what he did in his dreams. He could do a lot of things that a lot of other witches or wizards couldn`t even think of, such as transforming mercury into gold. Once he thought that he didn`t have any herbs that he needed for the formula that he wanted. He went to a big city called Bighold as he had heard that the king of that country, Harold by name, owned a big herbaria. When Wazard came up to the gates of the castle he saw two soldiers standing there. He asked the warriors to open the gates, but they refused to let him in, saying that the king couldn`t talk to him because he was very busy. Wazard told them that he had a lot of magic power and could help Harold with some of his business. When the guards said they didn`t believe him, he picked up some stones, uttered a spell: “stornoh, sirnoh, silvon” – and the stones transformed into the silver coins. The soldiers tacked the coins and opened the gates.
The king asked the wizard to kill his enemy – King Carl Lotarian. He ruled a big kingdom and wanted to take over some of the Harold`s lands. Wazard thought that he was very close to the secret of the eternal life. But he thought that he had never killed anybody. He knew how to do that, but he just wasn`t a killer. He asked some time to think the matter over. He had been thinking all night long and finally made a decision to kill Carl Lotarian with his magic power. He went to his new experimental room in the castle and drew the symbol that he had never drawn. His entire soul tried to persuade him not to do it. “You mustn`t do that!” – something shouted inside him. But the secret was so near… Wazard knew that if he would get these herbs, he would be able to make a mixture of the eternal life. But he had to take someone`s life to live eternally. The king`s warrior stood behind Wazard while he was thinking. The soldier asked the wizard why he wanted the herbs so much. Wazard lied that he wanted to cook a mixture that was not very interesting. “But if the mixture is not interesting, why do you want the herbs so much that you can even kill for it?” – was the next question. Wazard just muttered it was his own business. The warrior came up to the table with Wazard`s books on it and read the title of the biggest book: “Eternal life”. “Is it true?” – he asked in bewilderment. “Do you really know the secret of the eternal life?” “You must cook the mixture for me or I`ll kill you!” – he suddenly added. Since this moment all Wazard`s thoughts were about how to kill the knight. He thought that when this stupid soldier would go out of his room he would be able to kill him with the magic power. But the soldier said he would write the secret in his diary and if he died the king would know how and why he had done it. Wazaerd thought that if he gave the mixture to the knight, the knight would kill him. “So – he said to himself – I must kill the soldier right now in this experimental room in order to save my life”.
“I`ll give you the mixture as soon as I kill Carl and get some herbs” – he said. “And now – added Wazard – could you help me? Give me my magic crystal, please. I need to see Carl to kill him”. The soldier moved his arm to get the crystal. At that moment the wizard hit him by his stuff as strongly as he could. The warrior fell on the floor and felt unconscious. Wazard killed him with his own sword. Then the wizard made a lot of powerful acid and destroyed the body. Then he tacked the skeleton into pieces.
Having finished this dark business, he came up to his magic crystal. “Asmur, Asher, Ashora! – he ordered – show me king Carl Lotarian!” When the picture had appeared, he uttered another spell; the spell that he had never used before. “Abu, Shimy, Shumaha, Mistoruia, Varharta, Saghor” – the wizard said three times. His hands felt shaky for a moment, but his voice remained strong and clear when he added the last words: “I order Carl Lotarian to die! Now!” After a few days the rumors about a strange King Carl Lotarian`s death spread all over the country. Harold presented Wazard the herbs he had promised.
“Hooray! – thought Wazard – Now I can do what nobody ever have done! I will live eternally!” He went to his cabin and made the mixture. When he drank it one dark day, he suddenly felt great, unexplainable, unbearable pain – and died. The secret of the eternal life was revealed as the eternal death and infinite pain in the deathless soul.
